Nephrology

The Department of Nephrology provides comprehensive health care for patients with different types of kidney diseases. Acute & chronic kidney diseases caused by different conditions such as Diabetes Mellitus (High Blood Sugar), Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), Nephrotic Syndrome, Acute and Chronic Glomerulonephritis, Connective Tissue Disorders like Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Vasculitis, Kidney Stone Disease, Urinary Tract Infections, Familial / Hereditary Kidney Illness like Polycystic Kidney Disease, etc. are diagnosed and managed. Preventive Nephrology, Early Detection of Kidney Diseases, Slowing the Progression of Kidney Diseases & Delaying the need for Dialysis & Transplantation are important areas of focus. Once patient reaches End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), different forms of renal replacement therapies are offered such as Maintenance Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis. Post-transplant follow up is also done.
