What is TEES

Surgeries for ear diseases are all commonly performed using a microscope for visualization after making a big cut behind the ear and may sometimes need bone removal as well. However, more recently Minimally Invasive Surgery techniques via the External Ear Canal using Endoscopes have been developed and this is called Totally Endoscopic Ear surgery (TEES). Almost all Surgeries done for ear diseases and hearing corrections can be now performed endoscopically,

Advantages

The fact that there is no large cut behind the ear and lesser need to drill the bone behind the ear would mean (1) lesser pain for the patient (2) quicker recovery time and therefore (3) shorter hospital stay.
